Wellness for all
The Dandelion Fund supports the Hello Wellness mission to help people transform their lives. Inspired by the dandelion, a symbol of growth, impermanence and hope in the face of adversity and change, the fund channels a percentage of merchandise sales to initiatives that enhance wellness for all. Together, we can cultivate resilience and joy, no matter where we are planted.
Hello Wellness’ logo, the dandelion, represents qualities that have significant personal meaning. When Erin was a resiliency educator in the context of suicide prevention, images of dandelions served as a personal symbol of active hope. Their ability to thrive in any conditions, whether peeking through cracks in sidewalks or flourishing in abundance in barren, drought-ridden fields, embodies the essence of growth in the face of adversity. Resiliency researchers use the humble plant as an analogy for the kind of folks who seem to be able to cultivate wellbeing even in the direst of circumstances.
Some people, like dandelions, seem to possess these traits innately. Many of us earn our capacity for navigating difficulty through trials and challenges that taught us how to cope. Neurobiology and resiliency researchers share that these life skills are a product of nature AND nurture, our ancestral inheritance and the influence of context. Erin learned, both on the job and in her own personal seeking, that wellbeing is a skillset that can be practiced. Her investigation into how human beings, over and over again, rise up and keep going, has inspired a deep desire to know how they do it. Her mission is to share what she's learned so that we might all know relief from suffering. So that we might all – like the mighty little dandelion – find the compassion, fulfillment, and joy in our lives no matter where we are planted.
